UKP-Arts Guide to Performing Arts

Musical theatre requires people with strong skill-bases in singing, acting, dancing and the ability to combine these core skills convincingly. It's therefore important that musical theatre training should increase an individual's ability in all three disciplines and integration of these skills. Having these qualities within the industry will put any performer in a strong position.

For these reasons, think carefully when choosing a Musical Theatre course. It's not uncommon for many acting or dance courses to include musical theatre as an 'add on' rather than provide specialist training in the subject. Use this section to learn more about musical theatre, courses and qualifications available, the benefits of being a multi-skilled performing artist and more.
